Jeroen Engelsman

Jeroen Engelsman (born January 28, 1989 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German - Dutch actor , speaker and musician.

Life

Jeroen Engelsman grew up bilingual with German and Dutch as mother tongues. After graduating from high school, he completed his acting studies at the Scuola Teatro Dimitri in the canton of Ticino ( Switzerland ) from 2008 to 2011 as a scholarship holder of the Fritz Gerber Foundation for talented young people and the Gertrud Rüegg Foundation . Later he took private speaking lessons and attended a film workshop at the Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg .

After his training he had various theater engagements, including a. at the Schauspielhaus Zurich (2011/12 season in Zwerg Nase ), at the Zurich Opera House (2012, as a note in A Midsummer Night's Dream based on Shakespeare / Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , director: Heinz Spoerli ) and at the Aalto Theater in Essen (2012-2014 in the Midsummer Night's Dream -Ballet version by H.Spörli). In the 2012/13 season he appeared in the roles of “Der Wilderer / Jäger” in the musical theater piece The Black Rider at the Basel Theater .

Several free theater productions followed, in which he a. a. worked with Tobias Maehler , Jürg Kienberger and Volker Hesse . With some of these productions he made guest appearances. a. at the Fringe Festival Beijing, at the International Theater Festival Tbilisi, at the Kaltstart Theater Festival Hamburg, as well as in Haifa and Tehran . In 2015 he appeared in the Philharmonie Luxembourg as a speaker at musical performances. With the Munich- based independent “Ensemble Persona” he appeared in the Hubertussaal of Schloss Nymphenburg and in open-air performances as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (premiere: November 2015) alongside Manuel Feneberg (as Tybalt / Paris).

From 2016 he made several guest appearances at the Theater an der Effingerstrasse in Bern , a. a. in the two Swiss premieres as military pilot Lars Koch in the play Terror by Ferdinand von Schirach and as Edward Ridgeway in Joanna Murray-Smith's play Switzerland . For the season opening of the 2017/18 season he played Lieutenant Anton Hofmiller in a stage version of Stefan Zweig's novel Impatience of the Heart .

In June 2017 he played the role of Martin Luther in the world premiere of the mystery play The Zwingli Files (director: Volker Hesse ) at the Grossmünster in Zurich .

Engelsman has also been in front of the camera for several film and television productions. In the 15th season of the ARD television series Rote Rosen (2018), Engelsman took on a guest role as barman and crime writer Julian Dorfmann for several episodes from episode 2716. In the ZDF crime series In Truth (2018) he had a supporting role as Belgian drug dealer Marc Declergc. As prosecutor Westerholt, Engelsman stood in front of the camera in 2019 for the ZDF series Under Other Circumstances . After his role in the television series Sturm der Liebe (April to July 2019) as the smart Icelander Ragnar Sigurdsson, he was followed by a leading role as Vincent Marrack, management consultant and childhood sweetheart of the main female character Holly Shaw, in the Rosamunde Pilcher film adaptation of My Cousin, Love and Me , which first aired at the end of December 2019.

He also performs regularly as a musician with his band "The Bohemians".

Jeroen Engelsman, who has both German and Dutch citizenship, lives in Basel and Munich .
