The Infiniti G V36 / CV36 is the fourth generation of the G series from the Japanese brand Infiniti, Nissan's premium brand . The Nissan Skyline is the sister model of the G series.
In November 2006, the G35 was launched as a sedan in the USA. The Coupé followed in August 2007 and the Cabriolet was available as the G37 from June 2009. All models are assigned to the middle class and compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2007) , the 3-series (2005) from BMW and the Audi A4 (2007) .
The series was introduced in Germany in October 2009 and sold as a sedan until June 2013. The gross prices in Germany started in 2010 at 40,200 euros for the sedan, at 41,950 euros for the coupé and 50,800 euros for the convertible.
The sedan was replaced by the Infiniti Q50 in July 2013 , while the coupé and convertible are now called the Infiniti Q60 as part of the renaming of the Infiniti model range .
design
The design of the three model variants is determined by a round shape. The low front section with the large radiator grille underlines this effect. These sweeping lines are also continued in the interior.
Furnishing
The standard equipment is generous, including cruise control, parking aid, bi-xenon headlights, electrically adjustable front seats and ski hatches. Four lines of optional equipment - similar to those from Mercedes - are available on request:
- GT : In addition to the series, equipped with leather seats, heated front seats, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats and a memory function for the driver's seat, the steering column and the exterior mirrors.
- S : In addition to the series, there are sports seats with electrically adjustable backrest width and seat side bolsters. In addition, this equipment line includes a sports suspension, active all-wheel steering and a viscous limited-slip differential.
- The premium package can be combined with the S and GT and includes, among other things, a hard drive-based navigation system with 30 GB of storage space as well as a Bose sound system with MP3 support and 10 speakers.
Technical specifications
In Germany, all three model variants are only available with one type of engine. This is a 3.7-liter V6 petrol engine with 235 kW (320 hp) that is installed behind the front axle. The engine block and cylinder head are made of an aluminum alloy. Two overhead camshafts operate four valves per cylinder. The infinitely variable valve control VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) adapts the valve timing and lift to the speed and load. This ensures high torque and better responsiveness with lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions. A six-speed manual gearbox with shortened gearshift travel is fitted as standard for the sedan, the coupé and the convertible. An electronically controlled seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode is available as an option for all models. The automatic transmission also recognizes the individual driving style and adapts the shift program accordingly. Coupé and convertible are only available with rear-wheel drive, the sedan is also available with all-wheel drive.
The rack and pinion steering works with speed-dependent servo assistance, the turning circle diameter is 11 meters.
All wheels are individually suspended , at the front on double wishbones with coil springs over the shock absorbers and stabilizer, the multi-link rear axle also has coil springs over the shock absorbers and stabilizer.
The internally ventilated disc brakes with aluminum brake calipers have a diameter of 320 mm at the front and 308 mm at the rear, with four pistons at the front and two pistons at the rear.
Facelift
In March 2009, sales of the revised sedan, now called the G37, began. Infiniti used this facelift to equip the notchback model with a new, brand-typical radiator grille, among other things. The front apron has also been revised and the fog lights have been integrated there. The coupé was taken over almost unchanged, while a convertible with a steel folding roof followed in June 2009.
In September 2011, the G25 was introduced as the basis in the USA, which has a 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with 163 kW (222 PS).
While the sedan was replaced by the Q50 in July 2013, the coupe and convertible remained on the market as the Q60 until 2016. In July 2015, the import of the Q60 to Germany was discontinued, the successor model only came onto the market in autumn 2016.
