The Infiniti QX80 is a sport utility vehicle that Infiniti has been producing since 1996. While the first generation QX4 was still considered a medium-sized SUV - similar to a BMW X5 - the QX56, built since 2004 (renamed QX80 in 2013) is a full-size car SUV with a total length of well over five meters . Like most of its competitors, it is not officially offered in Europe .

The first generation, called the QX4 , was still a medium-sized SUV. The basis was the Nissan Pathfinder R50. In Japan the model was marketed as the Nissan Terrano Regulus . In 2003 the QX4 was replaced by the Infiniti FX .

In 2004, the now larger QX 56 was presented, which was now based on the Nissan Armada . The QX56 was first presented on March 31, 2010 at the New York Auto Show. The QX56 is now based on the Nissan Patrol Y62, which is not available in North America . Compared to its predecessor, the QX56 is even longer and wider and it has a different front than the Patrol. It will now be equipped with a newly developed 5.6 liter V8 VVEL petrol engine with direct injection and variable valve control with a 7-speed automatic transmission . Its output is 298 kW 400 PS with a maximum of 560 Nm. Torque. The engine now allows a trailer load of 3850 kg.
Like its predecessors, the QX 56 has electronically controlled all-wheel drive with 4 possible presets for rocky terrain, snow, sand or mud. In addition, it has an electronically controlled chassis that automatically raises or lowers the body hydraulically as required.
The design and dimensions of the new model series are now finally on the level of Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator or other large luxury SUVs such as Lexus LX or Range Rover .
The interior includes a range of standard luxury equipment such as leather seats, three-zone climate control, Bose sound system with 13 loudspeakers, hard disk, integrated navigation system and satellite radio with NavTraffic standard. In addition, an electric tailgate and parking aid with Around View Monitor. Depending on the market and equipment line, air-conditioned front and rear seats, audio streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology, electrically adjustable rear seats and a 7-inch DVD entertainment system are available as standard or as an option. The new Around View Monitor system with a camera mounted on the grill enables a 180 degree view. Another camera is mounted on the side mirror on the passenger side to prevent the blind spot z. B. in parking lots.
In addition to ABS, brake assist , ESP and the adaptive front-lighting system AFS , the QX56 has an automatically triggered emergency call in the event of a collision and a total of 8 airbags including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger as well as front airbags for the passengers in the second row.
In addition to North America, the QX 56 is now also offered in Mexico , the Middle East and China , while the Nissan Patrol is no longer offered there.
After Infiniti decided to rename its entire lineup, the QX56 has been marketed as the QX80 since the 2014 model year.

Infiniti presented the fourth generation of the SUV as the QX80 Monograph concept vehicle at the New York International Auto Show in spring 2017. The production version was presented in November 2017 at the Dubai International Motor Show and has been on sale since the end of 2017. For the first time, the vehicle is also to be sold in Western Europe.
Compared to the previous model, the new generation differs only slightly. In addition to the almost unchanged dimensions, the QX80, which can be configured with up to eight seats, is powered by the 5.6-liter V8 petrol engine with 298 kW (405 hp) familiar from its predecessor. However, rear-wheel drive is available for the first time for the car . The SUV has a rear-view mirror camera, the image of which can be projected onto the interior mirror .
