She also received piano and accordion lessons. She soon became an apprentice at the Chemnitz Opera House , where she was supported by an art patron. After nine years of ballet studies, she passed her final exam at the Leipzig Opera House in 1939 .
At the age of 15 she was engaged at the State Theater in Augsburg . Until the end of the war in 1945 she worked as a solo dancer at the Zwickau City Theater , but was also used in the so-called "Front Theater". Since then she has been using her stage name "Inka Unverzagt".
In 1946 she became a solo dancer and youngest ballet master at the Freiberg City Theater . Fritz Reuter's adaptation of her ballet Henrikje was premiered here in 1947 . From 1952 to 1954 she worked at the Rostock Volkstheater , where she played her most important role as Juliet in Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet . In 1954 she moved to the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. There she was involved in performances of Cinderella , Coppélia and Scheherazade , among others . In 1955 she choreographed the world premiere of the musical comedy - Operetta From bad to worse from Paul Noack Ihlenfeld and Rolf Zimmermann . Although the directors Ilse Rodenberg and Gerhard Meyer were very open to the ballet, the ensemble was disbanded in the mid-1960s. She then worked as a freelance choreographer and dancer at DEFA , where she participated in 60 productions. Among other things, she worked with the actor Gojko Mitić . In the 1970s she was engaged again for musical theater productions at the Hans Otto Theater.
In addition, she was a guest lecturer at the Babelsberg Film School , supervised the dance ensemble of the steel and rolling mill in Hennigsdorf for 20 years and was involved in the children's ballet “Inka Girls”. After falling down, she had to quit teaching in the 2000s.
