The Integrated Comprehensive School Bonn-Beuel (IGS) in Pützchen (in the Beuel district of Bonn ) is Bonn's oldest integrated comprehensive school ; it was created in 1978 from a parents' initiative. Inclusive pedagogy ( joint lessons for disabled and non-disabled children) has been offered as part of so-called I classes (later called GU classes ) since 1985 . The school is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian MINT network founded in 2006 (see also: MINT subjects ) and therefore calls itself a MINT school.

Details

Around 1400 students are taught by around 130 teachers in the school (as of 2013); the proportion of students with a migration background is 21%. In the lower secondary level there were initially four classes, and since 1980 six classes per year. Since 1985 one of the six classes has been set up as an inclusion class as part of a school trial for integration; the offer was scientifically supported. In 2012 three inclusion classes were offered per year, in 2013 two more.

The accounts offered include funding school , high school , Middle school ( "high school"), Middle conclusion with qualification , technical college and high school . The Abitur is offered after both 12 and 13 years.

The school building was occupied in 1981; Before that, parts of today's Beuel Secondary School in Vilich and the Heinrich Hertz Europakolleg in Graurheindorf were used as temporary locations.

At the suggestion of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , UN Special Rapporteur Vernor Muñoz visited the school as part of his visit to Germany in 2006 to “attend the ideal form of the integrated comprehensive school”. As a special rapporteur, Muñoz examined why, according to the PISA study , the educational success of German students in the German school system depends very much on their social background. In an interview with the taz , Muñoz said at the final press conference on his tour of Germany that he liked the comprehensive school in Bonn-Beuel best.
