The Interfob is an annual meeting of European students in the forestry and wood industry . The event takes place every year for five days (usually in the last week of October) in a different European host country and is organized independently by the students of the host university.

Idea of the interfob

INTERFOB offers an exchange opportunity for over 250 students from numerous European countries.

In addition to making personal friendships and contacts, the meeting gives an insight into the work and life styles of other European countries and provides insights into science, research and practice in the local forest and wood industry.

INTERFOB lasts five days and offers excursions to companies in the forestry and timber industry as well as research institutes and universities. Further program items are scientific lectures, presentations and the cultural and personal exchange between the students.

In addition, the exchange of study and exchange opportunities at the other universities also plays an important role. Many of the universities maintain partnerships through which z. B. a student exchange can take place and be financed through the Erasmus program .

The first "INTERFOB" was still called "FOB" ("Formations du Bois") in 1988 by three French universities as a sports competition. The "FOB" was founded in 1987 by the ENSTIB in Épinal, which in 1988 organized the first edition of the FOB in Épinal and brought together three French (wood) engineering schools: ESB (Nantes), ENSAM (Cluny) and ENSTIB (Épinal).

In 1989 this event expanded to a European dimension and was renamed INTERFOB to emphasize its international character. From now on, this event for students from European countries is the Interfobs, Inter-Formations du Bois, which enables access to this event for students in the fields of forestry and wood management from all over Europe.

Since 1989 INTERFOB has been held annually in another European country and organized by the host university.

For the 20th anniversary in 2007, INTERFOB returned to its first venue in Épinal in the Vosges ( France ).
