Irineu Danelón SDB (born April 4, 1940 in Piracicaba , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic religious and emeritus bishop of Lins .

Life

Irineu Danelón made his first profession on January 31, 1964 in the religious community of the Salesians of Don Bosco . He then studied philosophy at the Salesian Institute for Philosophy in Lorena and Catholic theology at the Theological Institute of Pius XI. in São Paulo . He was ordained a priest on September 16, 1967 in São Paulo . After further studies, he received his doctorate from the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Rome . In the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco he was rector of the Lorena Philosophy Seminary, pastoral director of the province, director of the Salesian Lyceum in Campinas and provincial .

On November 26, 1987, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Lins . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal consecration on January 31 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Botucatu , Vicente Ângelo José Marchetti Zioni , and the Former Bishop of Corumbá , Ladislau Paz SDB. The inauguration in the diocese of Lins took place on February 28, 1988. His motto is “A Caridade jamais passará”.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 30, 2015.
