In 2002, Cuenca joined the youth team at FC Barcelona , having previously played for UE Barri Santes Creus . In the middle of the 2004/05 season, Cuenca returned to his hometown club FC Reus , as he received too little game practice in the Barça youth and had physical deficits. Cuenca has been playing for FC Barcelona B since the 2011/12 season . He made his debut for the reserve team on September 4, 2011 in the away win over FC Cartagena . Cuenca played the full game in the 1-0 win against Granada CF. He scored his first first division goal a few days later in a 5-0 win over RCD Mallorca . In the other games of the first half of the 2011/12 season, Cuenca was regularly in the first team's squad. On January 31, 2012, Cuenca signed a new contract with FC Barcelona, which will officially make him part of the first team until 2015. He now wears the shirt number 23, according to his own statement, based on Michael Jordan . On January 31, 2013, Cuenca was loaned to the Dutch first division club Ajax Amsterdam until the end of the season.

For the 2014/15 season , Cuenca dissolved his contract with FC Barcelona, which ran until June 30, 2015, and signed a one-year contract with the promoted Deportivo La Coruña .
