Issaak Abramowitsch Selensky
Issaak Abramovich Zelensky ( Russian Исаак Абрамович Зеленский ; usb. Isaac Abramovich Zelenskiy ; born June 10, jul. / 22. June 1890 greg. In Saratov ; † 15. March 1938 in Moscow ) was a Russian - Soviet politicians. In 1929 he was briefly General Secretary of the Uzbek Soviet Republic.
Life
Issaak Selenski was born in Saratov in 1890 to a simple Jewish family. There he completed his schooling and joined the Russian Social Democratic Workers' Party in 1906 , from which the Communist Party later developed. Selensky soon rose in the hierarchy of the party and after some time was responsible for party propaganda in several Russian cities, including Orenburg , Penza and Samara . He was arrested in 1915 for his work for the party and exiled near Irkutsk in Siberia . In 1916, however, he managed to escape. During the October Revolution of 1917 he took part in fighting on the side of the Bolsheviks in Moscow . Selensky was also involved in the violent collectivization of agriculture.
From 1922 he was a member of the Central Committee . In 1924, Selensky was finally sent to Tashkent to help build the party structures there. In 1929 he was general secretary of the communist party in the Uzbek SSR for a short time , but in the same year he handed this office over to Akmal Ikramov , the first ethnic Uzbek in this position.
In 1937, in the course of the Great Terror , he was expelled from the party by the Central Committee of the CPSU, arrested, sentenced to death and finally executed on March 15, 1938. At that time he was accused of belonging to the anti-Soviet right.
In 1959 he was posthumously rehabilitated.
