Ivan Vicelich MNZM (born September 3, 1976 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand soccer player with Croatian roots. He is also a national player for his country.

Career

Vicelich began his career with Waitakere City FC in 1994 and moved to Central United in 1997 . From 1999 to 2001 he played for New Zealand's top club The Football Kingz in the National Soccer League . In the summer of 2001 he finally moved to Roda JC Kerkrade in the Netherlands , for whom he played 129 games in five years. He played for RKC Waalwijk from 2006 to 2008 before returning to New Zealand to join Auckland City FC . As the captain of Auckland, he led the team to the New Zealand championship title and the 2008/09 OFC Champions League .

With the New Zealand national soccer team Vicelich won the OFC Nations Cup in 1998 and 2002 . He was also a participant in the Confederations Cups in 1999 and 2003. Since 1995, the midfielder has played 86 international matches, scoring six goals. After Vicelich announced his retirement from the national team in August 2008, he returned to the national team as a replacement for the injured Ryan Nelsen for the Confederations Cup in 2009 . He was also part of the squad for the 2010 World Cup . With 86 international matches, he is New Zealand's record player.
