Ivy Bethune

Ivy Bethune (born June 1, 1918 as Ivy Vigder in Sevastopol , Soviet Russia - † July 19, 2019 in Woodland Hills , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Bethune began her career in the early 1960s, when she was mainly seen in television guest roles. Over three decades she starred in Alfred Hitchcock Presents , Our Little Farm , The Waltons , Hart But Cordial and Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century, among others . She had a recurring role from 1981 to 1982 in the family series Father Murphy . Bethune was rarely seen on the big screen; so she appeared in the role of Ma Peabody in Back to the Future . She also performed in various productions at the Colony Theater in Burbank between the mid-1970s and the early 2000s . At the age of 90, she played an extra role in the comedy Get Smart in 2008 .

Bethune was married to William Bethune from 1939 until his death in 1950, whose last name she subsequently used for her acting career. The actress Zina Bethune emerged from the marriage. In her second marriage, she was married to the actor Stuart Lancaster from 1971 until his death in 2000 . She died at the age of 101.
