Iwa Karagiosowa ( Bulgarian Ива Карагьозова , formerly Iwa Schkodrewa ( Ива Шкодрева ), born September 21, 1971 in Samokow ) is a former Bulgarian biathlete .

Iwa Karagiosowa won her first biathlon World Cup race in 1988 in Antholz . In Ruhpolding , she won her second race shortly after that. In 1989 she took part in the biathlon world championships in Feistritz for the first time and finished fourth with the team. In the team competition in Oslo in 1990 , she won her first world championship medal with bronze. In the following year , she made it onto the podium in third place in the individual, and won the silver medal with the team. In 1992 at the premiere of women's biathlon at the Olympics, she first appeared at the Winter Olympics . In Albertville her best placement was fourth place with Nadezhda Alexiewa and Silwana Blagoewa with the relay. In the overall World Cup, she finished tenth this season. In 1993 she won her third and last World Cup race in Antholz, again an individual. Nevertheless, Karagiosowa was active internationally for another ten years.

In 1994 the Bulgarian competed in the Olympic Games for the second time and was eleventh in the sprint in Lillehammer . In Ruhpolding, Karagiosowa took an outstanding place at a major event for the last time. She was sixth in the singles. After that, she could only achieve good placements in such events at most in the sprint races. Exceptions were good results at the European Championships. In 2000 she won the individual title at the title fights in Kościelisko . The following year she won the individual bronze in Haute-Maurienne . In the games of Salt Lake City 2002 she was fourth in the season and missed again just an Olympic medal. At the beginning of the following season she achieved her last major sense of achievement in the World Cup with the Bulgarian relay. With Pawlina Filipowa , Ekaterina Dafowska and Nina Kadewa she was third in the season in Östersund .
