Júlio Cardinal Duarte Langa (born October 27, 1927 in Mangunze ) is former bishop of Xai-Xai .

Life

Júlio Duarte Langa was ordained a priest for the Diocese of João Belo on June 9, 1957 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Xai-Xai on May 31, 1976 . The Archbishop of Maputo , Alexandre José Maria dos Santos, OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on October 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francesco Colasuonno , Apostolic Delegate in Mozambique , and Januário Machaze Nhangumbe , Bishop of Pemba . On July 12, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

In the solemn consistory on February 14, 2015, Pope Francis accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Gabriele dell'Addolorata in the college of cardinals . The occupation of his titular church took place on May 10 of the same year.
