Jewish cemetery (Butzweiler)

The Jewish cemetery in Butzweiler , a district of the Newel community in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was laid out after 1865 on a hill on the eastern edge of the town.

On the Jewish cemetery also were in Welschbillig deceased Jewish people buried. In 1921 the cemetery was expanded and then comprised 6.55 ares .

The cemetery was desecrated as early as 1932. 15 tombstones were knocked over. In 1938 or a little later the cemetery was destroyed, all gravestones were smashed and removed.

A memorial stone was erected after 1945 .
