The Quatzenheim Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in Quatzenheim , a French commune in Lower Rhine ( Bas-Rhin department ) in the Grand Est region . It is located at the end of the Rue Principale on the left of the street towards Wiwersheim , at the corner of Rue de Dossenheim.

The cemetery, which was laid out in 1793 and is still occupied today, is surrounded by a sandstone wall. Four sections can be distinguished:

On the old part in the southwest there are about 100 tombstones from the end of the 18th to the middle of the 19th century.
The north-western part contains around 180 tombstones from the mid-19th century to the beginning of the 20th century in neoclassical style.
In the northeast is the third area with around 50 gravestones from the beginning of the 20th century. The material for the gravestones of the past decades is granite .
The southeast area is unoccupied.

A memorial stone for the Jews from Quatzenheim who were murdered in the Holocaust is located at the main entrance from Rue Principale.

On February 19, 2019, extensive desecrations were discovered in the cemetery . 96 graves had been smeared anti-Semitically , mostly with swastikas . The Strasbourg Public Prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation . On the same day, President Emmanuel Macron and France's Chief Rabbi Haïm Korsia visited the cemetery. On the occasion of the desecration of the graves, Israel's Immigration and Integration Minister Joaw Galant voiced the government's concern about the growing number of anti-Semitic incidents in France and urged French Jews to aliyeh ( immigration to Israel).
