Jürgen Graf (Holocaust denier)

Jürgen Graf (born August 15, 1951 in Basel ) is a Swiss author , translator and Holocaust denier .

Life

The son of a bank clerk and social democrat graduated from the humanistic high school . He studied Scandinavian , English and Romance studies and graduated in 1978 with a licentiate . Graf initially worked as a teacher in Switzerland, later in Taiwan as a lecturer at a university . After his return to Basel he worked as an interrogator for asylum seekers for the delegate for refugee affairs on the Rhine ship “Basilea”, which had been converted into a reception point.

Journalistic and revisionist activity during the 1990s

In 1990 he described his experiences as an interrogator of asylum seekers in the book “Das Narrenschiff”, which became a “sweeping blow against the abuse of the right to asylum” and brought him the accusation of xenophobia . Economically, the book was a success. In 1991, Graf met the Holocaust denier Arthur Vogt , whose conviction he followed. In 1993 Graf's book “The Holocaust on the Test Stand. Eyewitness accounts versus natural laws ”, in which he denies the Holocaust. Graf sent it to many journalists and parliamentarians and thus became known as an avowed negationist . As a result, he was dismissed from school without notice. Graf then found a job at a non-state school in Basel , where he taught German to foreigners. For the Holocaust denier Gerhard Förster he wrote Auschwitz with the support of Carlo Mattognos . Confessions of perpetrators and eyewitnesses to the Holocaust , which Förster published in 1994 in his publishing house Neue Visionen .

In publications and at numerous events organized by right-wing extremist and neo-Nazi groups, Graf spread that the Holocaust did not take place. In addition, he often appeared as a speaker at international events.

Convictions in Germany in 1995 and Switzerland in 1998

In Germany, Switzerland, but also in France, Graf was sentenced to fines and imprisonment for his holocaust-denying activities for sedition , incitement to racial hatred, denigration of the memory of the deceased and insult . As early as 1995, he was sentenced to one year without parole in Germany for sedition. Il July 1998 he was then in Switzerland among other things because of the publication Auschwitz. Confessions of perpetrators and eyewitnesses to the Holocaust together with Gerhard Förster from the Baden District Court, sentenced to 15 months imprisonment without probation (Förster 12 months) and in addition to fines.

Graf escaped his prison sentence by fleeing to Belarus , then to Russia . He lived in Moscow for a long time with his Belarusian wife . He has been living in Basel again since October 2018, as his actions are now barred.

Journalism since 2000

In the book “Death Cause of Contemporary History Research”, which was printed in 2003 and was also published under the title “The Holocaust in the Classroom”, Graf depicts scenes from a lesson in which girls and boys discuss the Holocaust together with the teacher and move away from their original conviction that there was genocide in the concentration and extermination camps of the National Socialists . The title “cause of death contemporary history research” refers to the death of the teacher, the circumstance of which is vaguely described at the end of the book and who was previously dismissed from the school service due to her teaching.

Contacts and cooperation with other Holocaust deniers

Graf has also written numerous articles for the Belgian-Flemish organization " Vrij Historisch Onderzoek ", is in close contact with other Holocaust deniers such as Germar Rudolf and Ernst Zündel and has his own website on the Internet.

Graf works closely with Ahmed Rami from Radio Islam , whose books he translates; including Rami's 1994 book entitled “The Power of the Zionists”.
