Act

Straub's research and publications revolve around the systematic development of an interpretive action and cultural psychology that is consistently interdisciplinary and in particular includes sociological and philosophical perspectives. An overarching goal is the integration of theoretical and methodological reflections as well as historical and empirical research with diagnostic potential. The long-term research interests - which are supplemented by the research areas of the chair team - include: cultural psychology; narrative psychology ; interdisciplinary social and cultural theory ; social and cultural psychoanalysis ; intercultural communication , coexistence and competence; religious and secular forms of life and subjectivity; History of psychology and the psychologization of modern societies; Action theory , identity theory, memory theory and biography theory; comparative social research and cultural analysis; Hermeneutics and Qualitative Methods .

The research interests are reflected in the establishment of an interdisciplinary cultural psychology focus in the BA and MA courses of the Faculty of Social Science at RUB, in particular in the MA course "Culture and Person", which has existed since 2009, as well as the offers for which Straub is responsible for the structured doctorate . The interdisciplinary cultural psychology focus is currently unrivaled in German-speaking countries. Close cooperation in research and teaching is maintained with related companies abroad, e.g. B. with the Niels Bohr Professorship Center for Cultural Psychology at Aalborg University ( Jaan Valsiner ). So far, around 30 doctoral students and numerous employees of the chair are involved in the profiling of a social and cultural science psychology or psychologically informed social science.
