Jacques Faivre (Bishop)

Jacques Maurice Faivre (born August 11, 1934 in Lyon ; † August 13, 2010 there ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Le Mans .

Life

Jacques Faivre studied philosophy at the seminary in Francheville and theology at the Catholic University of Lyon . He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1960 . He was a priest in Lyon for nine years and a university pastor in Lyon for 15 years . From 1984 to 1989 he was pastor of Notre-Dame-Saint-Vincent et Saint-Paul in Lyon. In 1989 Jacques Faivre was appointed archdeacon in the greater Lyon area.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of San Leone and auxiliary bishop in Lyon-Vienne on April 29, 1992 . The Archbishop of Lyon, Albert Cardinal Decourtray , donated him episcopal ordination on June 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Hubert Barbier , Bishop of Annecy , and Claude Feidt , Archbishop of Chambéry . He was also Vicar General of Lyon.

On July 29, 1997, John Paul II called him Bishop of Le Mans . His resignation for health reasons was by Pope Benedict XVI. on July 3, 2008.

Bishop Jacques Faivre died on August 13, 2010 in his hometown of Lyon as a result of a heart attack. He found his final resting place in Lyon Cathedral .
