Jacques Henry Kallis (born October 16, 1975 in Cape Town ) is a South African cricketer . In 2005 he was named both ICC Player of the Year and ICC Test Player of the Year . In 2007 he was elected Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World .

Career

Jacques Kallis made his test debut against England in Durban in December 1995 . He is the only South African cricketer to have more than 10,000 runs in friendly matches. Besides Dudley Nourse , Graeme Pollock and Graeme Smith, he is one of four South African cricketers who achieved an average of at least 50 runs per wicket in tests. Jacques Kallis is also the only South African cricketer to have scored more than 10,000 runs in one-day international matches (ODIs). Along with Rahul Dravid , Brian Lara , Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar, he is one of only five cricketers who were able to achieve at least 10,000 runs in tests and ODIs. Kallis is not only an excellent batsman , but also a very good all-rounder . He is the only cricketer to have reached 10,000 runs and 250 wickets in both test matches and ODIs. Jacques Kallis took part in five cricket world championships ( 1996 , 1999 , 2003 , 2007 and 2011 ) with the South African team .
