The Jagdberg near Benfe in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein is 634.8  m above sea level. NHN high foothills of the Oberste Henn ( 675.9  m ) in the Rothaar Mountains .

The Jagdberg is located in the southern part of the Rothaar Mountains and in the southeast part of the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . It rises 1.1 km northwest of Benfe ( belonging to Erndtebrück ) and 1.2 km east-southeast of Oberste Henn ( 675.9  m ). The Beierbach (1.45 km long) flows north of the top of the wooded mountain and the Lützelbach (1.6 km) south - both small tributaries of the Benfe . The neighboring mountains and elevations of the Jagdberg include the Oberste Henn, its foothills, the Ederkopf ( 650  m ) in the west and the Aukopf ( 644.9  m ) in the south.

Natural allocation

The Jagdberg belongs to the natural area main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Ederkopf-Lahnkopf-Ridge (333.01).

Mountain height and independence

According to the current (2020) DGM (NRW), the Jagdberg is 634.8  m {high. On the German basemap from 2009 there was a 634.5  m high point near the summit . The west-north-western neighbor of the Jagdberg, the mountain Oberste Henn, is a good 40 m higher with its 676.5  m (DGM: 676.3  m ) height. Immediately northwest of the peak is Jagdberg the notch close a forest road intersection on 623.2  m height. Accordingly, the lower Jagdberg does not really represent a separate elevation.

Mountain of the same name

About 6.7 km south-southeast of Erndtebrücker Jagdberg there is another elevation called Jagdberg ( 676.3  m ) directly on Eisenstrasse in the urban area of Netphen .

Protected areas

The Jagdberg is located in the Rothaargebirge landscape protection area <SI> ( CDDA no. 555550027), which is 299.42 km² in size; to the west, in the direction of the Ederkopf , joins the LSG community of Netphen (CDDA no. 321048; 1987; 117.6 km²). The fauna-flora-habitat area Rothaarkamm and Wiesentäler (FFH no. 5015-301; 34.46 km²) and the nature reserve Rothaarkamm and Wiesentäler (CDDA no. 329599; 1930; 11.74 km² ) spread out around the mountain ) out.

Traffic and walking

The state road  720 runs southeast to east past the Jagdberg, which branches off the L 719 near the Aukopf and from there leads to and through the village of Benfe to Erndtebrück, and 1.7 km south of the iron road of the Rothaargebirge , which is local Part of the state road 722 between the sources of Eder and Sieg . A little south past the Jagdberg runs, beyond the valley of the small Benfe tributary Lützelbach , the Rothaarsteig , which is laid out on the old coal road and on the outskirts of Benfe first passes the Waldheim and then crosses the Eder tributary Benfe.
