The Jagdberg in Rothaargebirge is 676.3  m above sea level. NHN high secondary summit of the Kompass mountain ( 694.1  m ). It is located in the urban area of Netphen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein ; its southern slope lies in the municipality of Dietzhölztal in the Hessian Lahn-Dill district .

In addition to the equally high Colonel Henn , the Jagdberg is the highest mountain in the urban area of ​​Netphen and the highest in the catchment area of the Sieg . The highest point in the Hessian Lahn-Dill district ( 673.1  m above sea  level ), which is also the highest in Dietzhölztal, is located on the southern slope near the summit .

The Jagdberg rises to the south of the Rothaar Mountains and the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its summit region belongs to the district of Hainchen in Netphen . The border with the neighboring Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse and the Dietzhölztal municipality there runs 125 m south of the summit . The summit is 2.4 km east -south- east of the Nenkersdorf hamlet of Lahnhof , 5.2 km north-east of Hainchen and 4.4 km north-east of Werthenbach , all of which are part of Netphen, and about 800 m south-south-west of Heiligenborn , which belongs to Bad Laasphe . The eastern neighbor of the Jagdberg, with which it is connected via a plateau, is the highest point in the city of Bad Laasphe , along with the Berg Kompass 1.2 km away .

The Jagdberg summit and the northern parts of the mountain belong to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Ederkopf-Lahnkopf- Ridge (333.01), its southern parts extend into the natural area Kalteiche (with Haincher Höhe) (333.00) and the western parts in the main unit Siegerland (331) into the subunit Siegerland Rothaar-Vorhöhen ( Siegquellbergland ; 331.2).

The eastern neighbor of the Jagdberg, the Berg Kompass, is 18.2 m higher at 694.1  m in height. You can get from one peak to the other without falling below the 642.5 m height line . Accordingly, the lower Jagdberg, although its name is better known, is not really an independent elevation.

Altitude

About 250 m southwest of the Jagdberg summit ( 675.9  m ), a few meters east of a trigonometric point recorded on topographic maps at 670.9  m, there is a forest path crossing - on the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. There the Rothaarsteig meets the old Eisenstraße . Next to the southeast corner of the intersection there is a refuge belonging to the Dietzhölztal local history and tourist office with a large signpost and distance sign. About 140 m east of the hut, on such maps, directly north of the state border leading over the southern slope of the Jagdberg near the summit, where the Rothaarsteig and the Eisenstraße run together, another trigonometric point is recorded in Westphalia north of the path at an altitude of 673.3  m . There is a sign immediately south of the border in Central Hesse with the inscription Highest Point in the Lahn-Dill District  - 673.1  m above sea level. NN . There is also a forest path branching about 170 m northeast of the mountain peak at an altitude of 675.6  m .

Watersheds and rivers

On the Jagdberg meeting Lahn - victory - and the Lahn Dill - watershed each other. The Lahn tributary Ilse rises about 1 km east-north-east of the summit in the transition area to the neighboring mountain Kompass , about 450 m northwest the small Ilse tributary Langenbach; the source of the Lahn is 2.3 km to the west-north-west and that of the Banfe- source river Sohler Bach - Fischelbach just under 2 km southeast. The Jagdberg is located in the landscape protection area of ​​the community of Netphen ( CDDA -Nr. 321048), which was founded in 1987 and is 117.6 km² in size; to the east, in the direction of the compass , is the LSG Bad Laasphe (CDDA no. 319747; 1988; 123.11 km²). The Jagdberg, from which there is a wide view of the Siegerland from some places despite the forest , is accessible via the Rothaarsteig and the Montanhistorisches Wanderweg .
