Vernor Vivian "Jake" Forbes (born July 4, 1897 in Toronto , Ontario ; † December 30, 1985 in Hamilton , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who, during his playing career between 1919 and 1936, worked for the Toronto St. Patricks , Hamilton Tigers , New York Americans and Philadelphia Quakers have played in the National Hockey League .

Career

Forbes played in the amateur field until 1920 for the Toronto Aura Lee and Toronto Goodyears, before he was signed by the Toronto St. Patricks from the National Hockey League during the 1919/20 season . After he came to five missions during the season and had played 20 games in the following season , the team suspended him for the 1921/22 season . The nicknamed Jumpin 'Jackie had refused to sign the contract offered by Toronto. For the 1922/23 season , the St. Pats sold him to league rivals Hamilton Tigers , who moved to New York in 1925 and played as New York Americans .

Overall, the goalkeeper belonged to the Americans franchise until the summer of 1933 , but was loaned to other teams a few times during that time. So among other things to the Philadelphia Quakers , for whom he replaced the injured Wilf Cude in two games in the 1930/31 season . Other stations during this time were the Providence Reds , New Haven Eagles , Springfield Indians and Bronx Tigers in the Canadian-American Hockey League and the Niagara Falls Cataracts in the Canadian Professional Hockey League .

Between 1933 and 1936 he let his career in the International Hockey League end with the Windsor Bulldogs , Syracuse Stars , London Tecumsehs and Rochester Cardinals .
