Jakob Vetsch (born April 18, 1954 in Rorschach , entitled to live in Grabs and Zurich ) is an evangelical reformed pastor and author in Switzerland .

biography

Jakob Vetsch was born in 1954 as the son of government councilor Florian Vetsch and Anny, b. Born Engler. He spent his childhood in Buchs SG and attended the canton school at Burggraben in St. Gallen until he graduated in 1973 . He completed his studies in Protestant Reformed theology at the University of Basel with a guest semester at the Catholic Faculty of the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1977 he was called to Klosters-Serneus in Prättigau in Graubünden as a parish representative, vicar and pastor . From 1980 he was a member of the Bündner Synod until 1982 when he moved away from Serneus.

From then on, Vetsch worked as a pastor in the church village of Gretschins in the parish of Wartau SG until 1996 and was a member of the St. Gallen Synod and Vice Dean of the Rheintal church district from 1994 onwards . Only two years later, in autumn 1996, Vetsch took up a new position as pastor in the Protestant Reformed parish of Matthäus in Zurich , which he held until the end of February 2007. From March 2007 to June 2018 he worked in the pastoral care team (co-lead) of the then ecumenical and interreligious open Sihlcity Church in the Sihlcity shopping and leisure center in Zurich. In addition, Jakob Vetsch led the Tuesday morning prayers in the Wasserkirche from May 2011 to July 2017 and was responsible for the organization of the Sunday evening services there from April 2013 to June 2018. From September 2019 to June 2020 he was a member of the ecumenical pastoral care team (co-lead and lead) at the interreligious hospitable Raum + Stille in the Glatt shopping center , Wallisellen ZH.

From 1997 to 2011, Jakob Vetsch was a member of the Church Synod of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Zurich , where he presided over the advisory commission on the Postulate Vision Church 2019 . He has been working with Green Cross Switzerland since 1999 . From April 23, 2017 to April 15, 2018 he was President of the St. Anna Congregation, a foundation of the Evangelical Society Zurich . He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Valoren Foundation since October 19, 2016.

On September 27, 1995 Vetsch founded the Internet pastoral care (Seelsorge.net) and on July 29, 1999, the SMS pastoral care as a supplement . On March 31, 2004 Vetsch gave up the management of the Internet and SMS pastoral care. He has owned the christentum.ch domain since August 24, 1999, and the christentum.li domain since January 23, 2003, with corresponding links and texts.
