The Yakovlev Yak-43 ( Russian Яковлев Як-43 ) was a design for a Soviet supersonic-capable VTOL - combat aircraft .

history

The Jakowlew Jak-43 was designed as a land-based version of the Jak-141 . The Jak-43 would have been the third generation VTOL / STOL fighter aircraft to replace the Jak-141 if it had been mass-produced. The Jak-141 was not produced in series. Because of this and the difficult economic situation in Russia, the project was stopped.

The successor project of the Jak-43 was the Jak-201 project .

construction

Like the Jak-141, the Jak-43 would have had a single main engine and two vertical lift engines. The main engine is based on the three-shaft Samara NK-321 turbofan with a take-off power of 24,980 kg. The same engines are used for the Tupolev Tu-160 . The shape and the use of plastic components should reduce the radar reflecting area .
