Jamie Tardif (born January 23, 1985 in Welland , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey striker who was most recently under contract with Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Jamie Tardif (the son of Marc Gerard Marquis Tardif ) began his career in 2001 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes . He had a good debut season, leading the Petes' rookie scorers with 22 goals and 22 assists . In 2002/03 he was able to improve, was behind Eric Staal and Greg Chambers with 60 points in 68 games, the team's third-best scorer and also in the playoffs, where the team was eliminated in the first round, he convinced with three goals and four assists . Tardif then took part with the Canadian national team in the U18 Junior World Championship , with which he was able to win the gold medal.

The Calgary Flames selected him shortly afterwards in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round at position 112.

In the 2003/04 season, Peterborough Petes weakened and Jamie Tardif could not build on the performance of the previous season. The team missed qualification for the playoffs and he collected a total of 53 points in 64 league games. In the following season Tardif and his team could improve again. The Petes reached the playoffs again, while he finished fifth in the OHL's top scorer list with 37 goals. But despite his good performance, the Calgary Flames did not sign him, which is why they lost the rights to him and he was again available for the NHL Entry Draft 2005 , but this time was not selected.

2005/06 he went as team captain of the Petes in his fifth OHL season, which should also be his last and most successful. Tardif was again the top scorer of his team and set new personal records with 40 goals and 69 points. In the playoffs he slacked off a bit, but was still able to celebrate winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup . In the subsequent final tournament for the Memorial Cup , however, they took last place.

In the fall of 2006, Tardif was invited to the Detroit Red Wings training camp from the National Hockey League , but could not recommend himself for a contract. At the beginning of October he was then obliged by the Toledo Storm from the lower class ECHL and was able to convince there with ten goals and 20 assists in 34 games, whereupon the Manitoba Moose from the AHL brought him into their team in early December 2006, but again after one game released. At the end of the month he got a contract in the AHL with the Iowa Stars , but also here he only played twice before he finally found a permanent place in the Grand Rapids Griffins , the AHL farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, in late January 2007 . At Grand Rapids, he scored 15 points in the last 27 games of the season and was able to score a hat trick within a third during a game on March 3 .

After his contract was extended in the summer of 2007, he played the entire 2007/08 season for the ailing Griffins and scored 34 scorer points in 80 games. However, the team had their worst season since joining the AHL in 2001 and missed the playoffs significantly. In April 2008, Detroit Red Wings announced that they had signed Jamie Tardif for two years. In the 2008/09 season , the Griffins presented themselves again significantly better, but Jamie Tardif could not build on the performance of the previous season, which temporarily even lost his regular place.

On July 5, 2011, Tardif signed a two-year contract with the Boston Bruins . In 2014 Tardif moved to the DEL to Adler Mannheim. In the 2014/15 season he reached first place in the table after the regular season with the Eagles and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs .

Jamie Tardif is considered a good scorer and a dangerous striker who has mastered the physically tough game and thus fulfills the criteria of a power forward . However, he has weaknesses in speed.
