Jana Hartmann (born May 23, 1981 in Dresden ) is a former German athlete .

Life

The middle-distance runner was German indoor champion over 800 meters in 2007 . In the same year she also took part in the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham . In 2008 she became German champion over the 800 meters in Nuremberg. In this race the timing system failed and it was the first race in German championships without a winning time. At the European Team Championship 2009 in Leiria, Portugal, Hartmann set her personal best with 2: 00.71 minutes and won the title with the German team. In the same year she took part in the World Championships in Berlin. In 2010 and 2011 she was German champion both indoors and outdoors. At the European Indoor Championships 2011 in Paris, she was eliminated in the semifinals. In the outdoor season she reached second place with the German team at the European team championships in Stockholm. In 2013 she ended her competitive sports career.

Jana Hartmann was 1.78 m tall and had a competition weight of around 59 kg. She started for the LC Erfurt and since 2007 for the LG Olympia Dortmund and was trained by Pierre Ayadi and Lothar Pöhlitz , later by Marcus Hoselmann. Until 2012 she belonged to the sports promotion group of the federal police. She works as a police chief for the federal police .
