Janet Austin

Janet Edna Merivale Austin , OBC (born 1956 or 1957 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian social manager . She has been the incumbent lieutenant governor of the province of British Columbia since April 24, 2018 and as such represents the Canadian head of state , Queen Elizabeth II , at the provincial level.

Before Austin was named lieutenant governor, she served as CEO of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Metro Vancouver for more than 15 years .

Honors

With her appointment as Lieutenant Governor, she was automatically awarded the Order of British Columbia . She is also the Chancellor of the Order during her tenure as Lieutenant Governor.

She is also the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal .
