Robert Gordon Rogers

Robert Gordon Rogers , OC , KStJ , OBC (born August 19, 1919 in Montreal - † May 21, 2010 in Victoria ) was a Canadian manager . From 1983 to 1988 he was Vice Governor of the Province of British Columbia .

biography

Rogers graduated from the University of Toronto and the Royal Military Academy in Kingston . During World War II he served in a tank regiment in the Canadian Army and was involved in the landing on Juno Beach in Normandy on D-Day (June 6, 1944) . After the war he worked in forestry . In 1960 he became Vice President of Crown Zellerbach Canada (now incorporated into Georgia-Pacific ) and rose to Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO in 1976 .

Governor General Edward Schreyer swore in Rogers on July 15, 1983 as Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. He held this representative office until September 9, 1988. From 1991 to 1996 he was Chancellor of the University of Victoria .
