Jarelle Alexander Reischel (born May 17, 1992 in South Carolina ) is a German-American basketball player . He measures two meters and is used as a winger . Reischel has been under contract with SC Rasta Vechta for the second time in his career since summer 2019 .

career

Reischel, the son of a German and a US soldier stationed in Germany, was born in the US state of South Carolina and grew up in Frankfurt am Main from the age of two . He played for Eintracht Frankfurt among others in the youth basketball league . In July 2008, at the age of 16, he went to the United States, played basketball at Point Pleasant Beach High School, New Jersey, and was twice named best actor in the Shore Conference, before moving to Rice University in Houston in 2011 .

After the 2011/12 season, he decided to continue his studies and basketball career at the University of Rhode Island , but had to suspend a season after the move, according to the transfer regulations of the NCAA . Reischel completed a total of 64 games for Rhode Island in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons and moved to college again before the final season of his college career. In the 2015/16 season he played for Eastern Kentucky University and became the team's best basket shooter with an average of 17.9 points per match.

After completing his university career in the United States, Reischel was invited to trial training by NBA clubs, but received no contract. Then Reischel returned to Germany and signed his first working paper as a professional basketball player in August 2016 with Bundesliga promoted SC Rasta Vechta . In October 2016, his contract in Vechta was terminated at his request, to the surprise of the club, Reischel was used in a Bundesliga game for Lower Saxony.

On October 30, 2016, he was selected by the Salt Lake City Stars in fifth place in the second round (27th position overall) in the draft of the NBA Development League , but was removed from the team's roster before the start of the season. At the end of March 2017 he was signed by the Westchester Knicks , which are also a member of the NBA Development League. He played two games for the team and averaged 3.5 points per encounter.

In July 2017 Reischel was signed by the German second division promoted PS Karlsruhe . With the team he reached the semi-finals of the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in the 2017/18 season. With 13.9 points per game (37 season appearances), Reischel was the second best scorer in Karlsruhe. He then made another attempt in the direction of the basketball Bundesliga and accepted an offer from Telekom Baskets Bonn during the 2018 summer break . After a year, Reischel and Bonner parted ways again after he had scored an average of 2.7 points in 34 appearances for the Rhinelander in the 2018/19 Bundesliga season.

At the beginning of August 2019, he was signed for the second time by Bundesliga club SC Rasta Vechta .

National team

Reischel took part in the U16 European Championship (B group) with the German Basketball Federation's selection team. Behind Mathis Mönninghoff and Philipp Neumann , he was the third best scorer of the Germans during the tournament with an average of 11.1 per game and thus a top performer on the way to winning the B-EM. In 2010 he was appointed to the German U18 and 2012 to the German U20 national team.
