Jasiona (German Jeschona ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Zdzieszowice (Deschowitz) in the powiat Krapkowicki (Krappitz district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

history

Maria Magdalenen Church

The place arose no later than the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1285 as Jassona. The place name should be derived from the tree genus ash.

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the Description of Silesia as Jaschiona and Jeschina and was located in the Groß Strehlitz district of the Principality of Opole . At that time it had 120 inhabitants, a farm , a mill, a Catholic church, a school, eleven farmers, seven gardeners and four cottagers. In 1865 Jeschiona had 16 farmers, eight gardeners, 13 cottagers, as well as a Catholic church and a Catholic school.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 122 people eligible to vote voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 216 for membership of Poland. Jeschona remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1936 the place was renamed Eschendorf in the course of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Jasiona . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Krapkowicki .
