Jason Anthoney Richardson (born January 20, 1981 in Saginaw , Michigan ) is a retired American professional basketball player . From 2001 to 2015 he was active in the NBA .

Career

During his time at Michigan State University , he won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship along with other later NBA players . In the 2001 NBA draft , he was selected by the Golden State Warriors in fifth position.

Richardson played for the Warriors for a total of six years. During this time he was one of their most spectacular and popular players. He also had his best time with the Warriors. So scored during the 2004-05 season 21.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. 2005-06 he increased his points yield to 23.2 points per game, which was his best result in his career.

He was fined $ 35,000 in May 2007 for arguments with a fan. On June 28, 2007 Jason Richardson was given by the Warriors (together with the draft rights to Jermareo Davidson) to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for the draft rights to Brandan Wright . There he showed his qualities as a scorer with 21.8 points per game.

In December 2008 he was transferred to the Phoenix Suns along with Jared Dudley for Raja Bell , Boris Diaw and Sean Singletary . With the Suns, he was no longer the first option in the attack. In the following two and a half years he scored about 16 points per game and reached the Western Conference final with the Suns in 2010 before being transferred to the Orlando Magic in the summer . He played for two years at Magic, where he got an average of 13 points as a starter. With Orlando he also reached the playoffs in 2011 and 2012, where they both lost in the first round.

In August 2012, Richardson moved to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of the Dwight Howard transfer . In January 2013, he suffered a serious knee injury and was suspended for two years. On February 18, 2015, he returned to the basketball field for the Sixers.

In August 2015, Richardson signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks before surprisingly announced his resignation on September 23, 2015. Richardson was previously diagnosed with an osteophyte in his right knee, which prompted him to resign.
