Jasper is a city and also the county seat of Pickens County in the US state of Georgia with 3684 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Jasper is about 50 miles north of Atlanta .
history
Jasper was founded as a settlement in 1853 and elevated to a city in 1957 . The place was named after William Jasper, a war hero of the American Revolutionary War .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 3684 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1484 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.40 people per household. There are a total of 1644 households.
62.7% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.02 persons. Children under the age of 18 lived in 35.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 27.0% of all households.
28.0% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 25.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 44.9% of the population were male and 55.1% were female.
93.1% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.1% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 2.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.1% to several ethnic groups. 3.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

The Griffeth-Pendley House , the Pickens County Courthouse and the Pickens County Jail are in National Register of Historic Places listed.
Every year several local attractions arouse the interest of visitors. B. The Tate House , which was built by local marble baron Sam Tate in the 1920s.
