Javier Salinas Viñals (born January 23, 1948 in Valencia , Spain ) is a Spanish Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Valencia .

Life

Javier Salinas Viñals received on 23 June 1974, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

May 26, 1992 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Ibiza . The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Archbishop Mario Tagliaferri , donated him episcopal ordination on September 6 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Madrid , Ángel Cardinal Suquía , and the auxiliary bishop in Valencia , Rafael Sanus . On September 5, 1997, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tortosa .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Mallorca on November 16, 2012, and he was instituted on January 12 of the next year.

On September 8, 2016, Pope Francis released him from the leadership of the Diocese of Mallorca and appointed him titular bishop of Monterano and auxiliary bishop in Valencia. Vatican Radio reported that, according to Mallorcan media, the change had come after rumors of an alleged love affair with his secretary caused unrest in the diocese.
