Manuel Ureña Pastor (born March 4, 1945 in Albaida , Valencian Community ) is retired Archbishop of Saragossa .

Life

Manuel Ureña Pastor was ordained as a diocesan priest in Valencia on July 14, 1973 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ibiza on July 8, 1988 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and Andorra , Archbishop Mario Tagliaferri , donated him episcopal ordination on September 11 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Angel Suquía Goicoechea , Archbishop of Madrid , and Miguel Roca Cabanellas , Archbishop of Valencia. As a motto he chose Testis spei Christi .

On July 23, 1991 he was appointed Bishop of Alcalá de Henares , on July 1, 1998, Bishop of Cartagena, and on July 31, 2003, Archbishop of Zaragoza.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on November 12, 2014.
