Jeffersonville is a village in the town of Cambridge in Lamoille County of the state of Vermont in the United States with 729 inhabitants (according to the 2010 census). Jeffersonville is centrally located in Cambridge and is the larger of two main settlement cores of the town, on which it is politically and administratively dependent ( village ).
history
Jeffersonville's original name was Cambridge Center . In 1827 it was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson in Jeffersonville renamed. Jeffersonville is home to the town's major commercial operations. The village is located on the fertile plain on the Lamoille River. In the north the Brewster River flows into the Lamoille River. In the 19th century, the first industries that used water power settled here.
The Jeffersonville Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The Jeffersonville Bridge was added in 1991.
Jeffersonville Station was on the Burlington – Cambridge Junction railway line .
