Shortly afterwards the European Junior Championships in Bansko went even better for the Russian . She won the title in singles and alongside Swetlana Slepzowa and Olga Wiluchina in the relay competition. She also finished ninth in the sprint and eighth in the pursuit.

In the 2006/07 season , Shumilova was able to make her debut in the Biathlon World Cup after the good junior title fights. In Lahti she contested her first race with a single, which she finished in 52nd place. In the following race she was 31st in a sprint and missed first point gains by just one place. At the start of the 2007/08 season , Schumilowa ran her first race in the women ’s European Biathlon Cup , but could not prevail. It was not until 2010 that further appearances in the racing series followed, including fourth place in a single from Nové Město na Moravě, the best result so far. In Otepää , the Russian took part in a major event for the first time, the 2010 European Biathlon Championships . After finishing fifth in the sprint, she won the bronze medal in the following pursuit race behind Vita Semerenko and Kathrin Hitzer . In the season she also won bronze behind the German and Ukrainian women with Olga Wiluchina, Jekaterina Jurlowa and Jekaterina Glasyrina .

After a break of several years, Yekaterina Schumilowa came back increasingly in the World Cup from 2012. She won her first World Cup points with 30th place in the Nové Město sprint. In the 2012/2013 season she came in the pursuit in Hochfilzen with 8th place in the top ten of a World Cup race for the first time. Furthermore, she won silver with the relay at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , which, however, was revoked after positive doping tests by Olga Wiluchina and Jana Romanowa .

Nationally, Schumilova won the Russian Biathlon Championships in 2009 in Uwat with Olga Anissimowa , Svetlana Slepzowa and Yevgenia Sedova the relay title of the Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk region .
