Jessica Jacobs (* 20th December 1976 in Wisconsin as Jessica Umentum ) is a former triathlete from the United States and three-time Ironman -Siegerin (2010, 2011). She is included in the best list of American triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

As the youngest of eight siblings, Jessica Umentum got into endurance sports at a young age and was active in athletics at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse .

First Ironman start in 2003

In 2003 Jessica Jacobs started her first Ironman in Zurich. In 2005 she competed in the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships) for the first time - just ten weeks after the birth of her daughter.

Professional athlete since 2007

The former professional soldier Jacobs ended her work in the military in 2007 and has since started as a triathlon professional - mainly on the long distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running). In November 2008 at the Ironman in Florida she was able to surprise with a bike time of 4:50 hours and she came third.

In November 2010, she was able to win the long distance competition in Florida and repeat this success in 2011. With her winning time of 8:55:10 h, she achieved the thirteenth-fastest Ironman time ever for women. Jessica Jacobs was trained by Derick Williamson . In 2014 she ended her time as a professional athlete.

In September 2017 she won her fourth Ironman race with the Ironman Korea and has not appeared internationally since 2017.

She has lived in El Paso , Texas, with her husband and daughter since November 2010 .
