Jindřich Polák
Jindřich Polák (born May 5, 1925 in Prague ; † August 22, 2003 there ) was a Czech film director . The focus of his work was in the area of children's films .
Life
He began his cinematic career as assistant to director Otakar Vávra in the late 1940s . This was followed by a wide variety of feature films and television series under his own direction. The series Pan Tau , Clown Ferdinand , Luzie, der Schreck der Strasse , Die Visitors and Katja and the Ghosts , which he staged in particular, are of particular importance , which were often co-produced with broadcasters from the FRG or the GDR and became the standards of children's television or - films were. Many of these were written by screenwriter Ota Hofman . Polák also made repeated excursions into the science fiction genre, for example in Clown Ferdinand and the Rocket , Ikarie XB 1 , the satire Zítra vstanu a opařím se čajem and the television series The Visitors . In 1968 the film Nebeští jezdci (German: "Himmelsstürmer") was made about Czech pilots in the British Royal Air Force during the Second World War , which was not allowed to be shown until 1990 .
