Joël Holtzem (born January 8, 1982 ) is a Luxembourg ice hockey player who has been under contract with the IHC Beaufort since 2015 and has played with the club in the second-rate Belgian National League Division 1 since 2016 .

Career

Joël Holtzem started his career at Hiversport Luxembourg . After a year at Tornado Luxembourg , where he became Luxembourg champion in 2001, he returned to Hiversport. He then played for a year for EC Eppelheim in the Baden-Württemberg League . After spending the 2006/07 season at EKU Mannheim Käfertal , he first played in the Regionalliga Hessen and later in the Regionalliga West from 2007 to 2011 . When the team was disbanded in 2011, he returned to Tornado Luxembourg, where he was also active for four years and played in the French Division 3 , the fourth-highest division in the country. He has been under contract with the IHC Beaufort since 2015 and has played with the club in the second-rate Belgian National League Division 1 since 2016 .

International

In the junior division, Holtzem first played with Luxemburg at the U18 European Championship in 1998 . After the introduction of the World Championships, he was active in the European Division II in 1999 and 2000 . In 2001 he and his team took part in qualifying for Division III of the U20 World Cup.

For the Luxembourg men's selection , Holtzem first took part in the 2000 D World Championship . After switching to the current division system, he played in Division II at the 2002 World Cup and in Division III world championships in 2003 , 2007 , 2008 , 2011 , 2012 , 2016 and 2017 .
