Jože Mehle (born May 8, 1980 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian biathlete and former cross-country skier .

Jože Mehle lives in Sentvid and starts for SK Brdo . He contested his first international race in November 1998 in Tauplitzalm as part of the FIS races. In February 1999 he took part in his first Junior World Championships in Saalfelden and was 21st over 10 and 22nd over 20 kilometers. Shortly afterwards he achieved a first very good position in a 15-kilometer Continental Cup race in Pokljuka , finishing fourth. In 2000 the Slovenian started again at the Junior World Championships in Štrbské Pleso , the best result was 14th place over 10 kilometers. Towards the end of the season, Mehle made his debut in Lahti in the cross-country skiing world cup and was 80th in the sprint. The best result at the 2001 Winter Universiade in Zakopane was eighth place over 30 kilometers, after which he finished on the podium for the first time in a 30-kilometer Continental Cup race, second behind Christophe Perrillat . In January 2002 Mehle won an FIS race over 10 and 15 kilometers in Tarvisio . Until 2006 he continued to compete mainly in FIS races (of which he won three) and Continental Cup races, and later in the Alpine Cup . He competed in races in the World Cup a total of 24 times, but was never able to win points in individual races. In 2004 and 2005 he was able to finish 14th and 15th in the team sprint with Nejc Brodar at the season opener in Düsseldorf , which is to be rated as the best results in the World Cup. Culminating in the flour-country skiing career was participating in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin , where the Slovene was used in five races. In the pursuit he reached the 55th, with the relay the 16th, in the 15-kilometer race the 59th, in the sprint the 56th and in the 50-kilometer race 55th place.

After the Olympic Games, Mehle switched from cross-country skiing to biathlon. He has been competing in international races there since 2007 . He competed in his first race, an individual, in Obertilliach and turned 70 there. The highlight of the first season was participation in the 2008 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě . At the continental title fights in the Czech Republic, the Slovenian finished 65th in both the individual and sprint. After the European Championships, he won in Cesana San Sicario as sprint 29th. and in Valromey as Sprint-24. first European Cup points. The best result at the World Championships in the summer biathlon 2008 in Haute-Maurienne was 18th place in the sprint of roller ski competitions. Mehle has been taking part in the biathlon world cup regularly since the 2008/09 season . At the start of the season he finished 74th in the Östersund individual in his first World Cup race. A little later in Hochfilzen he was 71st in the individual, which is Mehle's best result so far. With the relay he missed a first top ten placement in Oberhof in eleventh place. The highlight of the season was participation in the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang , where the Slovenian was 76th in the individual.
