Life

Joachim Dollhopf was born in Munich. He attended the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium in Dachau and was active in the theater group there. After graduating from high school, he studied German, history and sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In addition to his studies, he was also a member of various theater groups in the district. During this time he met Evi Goldbrunner . In 2002 he went to Brandenburg and began studying directing in the fields of scenic film and documentary film at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television (now Babelsberg Film University ). Here he preferred to work with his friend Evi Goldbrunner, with whom he has made several films since then.

In 2004 he directed a free theater adaptation of Robert Musils Tonka for the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin.

The seven-minute short film I don't feel like dancing , for which Robby Dannenberg co-wrote the script in 2007, is part of the “Next Generation 2009” program of german films . The award-winning film was shown at numerous film festivals in around 40 countries and shown on arte in 2011 . In 2009 Dollhopf and Goldbrunner shot their graduation film with WAGs at the Film University Babelsberg, with which the duo won the First Steps Award 2009 in the category "feature film (medium length)". The film had its world premiere at the Hof Film Festival 2009 and was shown at the 2010 Berlinale in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino.

In 2010 he founded DramaQueen GmbH in Gosen-Neu Zittau with Goldbrunner . Here, as managing director, he is responsible for the content and conceptual development of the DramaQueen material development software , which is used to transfer film and series dramaturgy into the digital age.

The duo's first feature film was released in September 2016 with Auf Augenhöhe . The film celebrated its world premiere at the German Children's Media Festival "Goldener Spatz" and received numerous prizes at national and international festivals.
