Joachim Wocislaus von Wobeser (born October 12, 1685 in Zirchow , † July 14, 1746 in Moers ) was a Prussian major general and Drost zu Moers, heir to Nieschen, Dresow and Börch.

Life

origin

He came from a noble Pomeranian family . His father was Jakob Wocislaw von Wobeser, landlord on Zirchow and Bansekow, ensign from Kurbrandenburg a. D. (* 1655 in Gohren, Stolp district, † 1713). His mother was Anna, born von Berghaus († March 12, 1733 zu Grünwalde). Two of his brothers were also in the military: Christoph Anton († 1749) was a colonel and commander of the Peenemünder Schanze , a second Peter Ernst was a captain in the “Prince Friedrich” regiment .

Military career

Wobeser entered Prussian service and began his military career in 1702 as a junker in the "Alt-Dohna" infantry regiment . He fought in the battles near Höchstädt and Malplaquet and took part in the sieges of Kaiserswerth , Mons and Oudenarde . In 1730 he became Drost of the Principality of Moers . On May 13, 1737 he became a colonel and commander of the Dossovian regiment , whereupon he came to stand with the Flantzian regiment . In 1743 he received a newly established garrison battalion and in October 1745 he was promoted to major general. He was considered a good soldier and as a general strictly adhered to discipline in the troops.

family

His wife was a born Heringin or Haringen, a middle-class but very rich from the Netherlands, who brought her husband considerable goods in Clevish. His son Alexander Bogislaus was also in the military, and his daughter Johanna Elisabeth (* 1717) married the later General Friedrich Wilhelm von der Mosel .
