Joakim Nyström (born February 20, 1963 in Skellefteå ) is a former Swedish tennis player and later a tennis coach.
Career
Nyström won 13 singles and eight doubles titles in his professional career, including the Swedish Open in 1987 . His biggest double success was winning the 1986 title at Wimbledon with Mats Wilander . He achieved his best placings in the tennis world rankings in 1986 with position 7 in singles and position 4 in doubles. In 1985 and 1987 he won the Davis Cup with Sweden .
In 1989 Joakim Nyström ended his tennis career due to persistent knee problems. From 2007 he was Jürgen Melzer's trainer . He also trained Jarkko Nieminen , Jack Sock and the tennis talent Carl Söderlund .
