Jochen Taupitz
Jochen Joachim Axel Taupitz (born April 12, 1953 in Detmold ) is a lawyer specializing in medical law and medical ethics , and has been a member of the German Ethics Council since 2001 .
Life
Jochen Taupitz studied law in Göttingen and Freiburg im Breisgau from 1973 to 1978 . In 1981 he received his doctorate . In 1982 the second state examination followed and in 1988 the habilitation . In the same year he received his first professorship in Göttingen and the license to teach the subjects of civil law , civil procedural law , international private law and comparative law . From 1989/90 until autumn 2019 he was full professor for civil law, civil procedural law, international private law and comparative law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Mannheim . From 1996 to 2002 he was also a part-time judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court . Jochen Taupitz has been Managing Director of the Institute for German, European and International Medical Law, Health Law and Bioethics at the Universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim since 1998 . He coordinated a two-year large-scale project in chimeric and hybrid research funded by the EU with 600,000 euros . In the discussion about assisted suicide in 2009, Taupitz argued that doctors should be allowed to act as “suicide assistants”.
