Joseph William Colborne (born January 30, 1990 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League until July 2018 and for their farm team, the San Antonio Rampage , in the American Hockey League was used.
Career
Joe Colborne first played during his junior years in the 2004/05 season for the Calgary Titans in the lower class junior league in Alberta . The striker then spent a season with the Notre Dame Midget Hounds in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League before going on ice for the Camrose Kodiaks from the Alberta Junior Hockey League the following season . In his second season with the Camrose Kodiaks, Colborne finished the regular season with 90 points as the second best scorer in the league. In the playoffs, the team prevailed and won the Rogers Wireless Cup , the championship of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Subsequently, Colborne was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the first round in 16th position by the Boston Bruins . The left-handed shooter spent the following two years at the University of Denver and went on the ice for their ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association .
After his debut season he was elected to the All- Rookie Team, a selection team of the best league newcomers. At the end of March 2010, the Canadian signed a three-year contract with the Boston Bruins. During the 2009/10 season he made his professional debut when Colborne went on the ice in six games for Boston's farm team , the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League . In the following season he was placed in the AHL squad of the Bruins and one of the team's top scorers before the left-handed shooter on February 18, 2011 from the Boston Bruins in a transfer deal together with a first-round vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and a second round - Suffrage in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft for Tomáš Kaberle was given to the Toronto Maple Leafs . They then sent him to the Toronto Marlies on the farm team .
In September 2013, he was traded from Toronto for a four-round draft pick in the next entry draft to the Calgary Flames .
After three years in Calgary, Colborne received no new contract after the 2015/16 season, so he joined the Colorado Avalanche as a free agent in July 2016 . There, his expiring contract was not extended after the 2017/18 season.
