Joseph DiPenta (born January 25, 1979 in Barrie , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played with the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League .
Career
The 1.88 m tall defender began his career on the Boston University team in the NCAA game operations before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft as 61st in the third round of the Florida Panthers .
With the Panthers, however, the right-handed shooter could not prevail, so he was hired as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2000 . But even in Philadelphia, DiPenta was only used by the Phantoms , the Flyers' farm team , in the American Hockey League . On March 5, 2002, the Canadian was transferred to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Jarrod Skalde . For the Thrashers, DiPenta finally completed his first NHL appearances in the 2002/03 season , but he did not make a breakthrough here either, or at his next station, the Vancouver Canucks . This only changed with his move to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for the 2005/06 season . With the franchise renamed Anaheim Ducks , Joe DiPenta won the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career in 2007 .
