Joel Polis
Joel Polis (born October 3, 1951 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American actor who plays in the theater as well as in films and television series.
Life
Joel Polis grew up in his native Philadelphia . He has two older siblings and an identical twin brother. After entering high school, he was successful in gymnastics and was able to get hold of a scholarship to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles . There he began to play theater. He had his first appearance in a university production of the musical West Side Story . A tour to Europe followed on a grant from the Summer Theater Festival, where he played in Germany and Great Britain.
Back in the USA, he first appeared in a show as a clown before he went to New York University . In New York he then studied with Broadway director Lloyd Richards , who advised him to finish his studies. Polis took to the Council and obtained his Bachelor (BA) in Los Angeles. He then got a place at the Yale Drama School at Yale University in New Haven (Connecticut) . There he had contact with a large number of theater people, some of whom are now very renowned, and completed his studies there with a Master of Arts .
Polis then went back to New York. There he was able to celebrate his first successes at the theater. He continued to work in the theater and has appeared in many productions to date. He states that his first love is still the theater, especially working on the implementation of new plays. Accordingly, he is now also active in the theater as a director and producer. He also gives workshops in acting and coaches other actors and actresses.
In addition to his theater work, Polis is also frequently engaged in American television, often appearing in small supporting roles in popular television series.
