Joey Oosterveld (born March 23, 1989 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with Hijs Hokij Den Haag in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2016 .

Career

Clubs

Joey Oosterveld began his career as an ice hockey player with the Amstel Tijgers Amsterdam in his hometown. He made his debut in the honor division at the age of 17 . In 2007 he won the Cup with the Dutch Cup . After the capital city club withdrew to the second-class Eerste divisie in 2010, he played for another year, but also came to work with the honorary divisionist Zoetermeer Panters . From 2011 to 2013 he was on the ice with the new Amsterdam professional club Amsterdam G’s (called "Amsterdam Capitals" in the 2011/12 season). After they also withdrew from the honor division for financial reasons, he switched to the Heerenveen Flyers in Friesland. In 2015 he returned to the Amstel Tijgers and played one season in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . In 2016 he joined league rivals Hijs Hokij Den Haag . In 2018 he and his team won the BeNe League and the Dutch championship title.

International

Oosterveld took part with the Dutch team at the U18 World Championships in 2007 and at the U20 World Championships in 2008 and 2009 in Division II.

He first took part in the 2014 World Cup in Division I with the men's national team in his country . After the Oranjes were relegated in 2015 without Oosterveld, he played in Division II in 2016 , where he was immediately promoted back to Division I. He then played in Division I in 2017 , but the Dutch were relegated again, so Oosterveld played again in Division II in 2018 and rose again. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
