Johann Heinrich Calisius

Johann Heinrich Calisius ( pseudonym Cloridan von Wohlau ; * 1633 in Wohlau , Duchy of Wohlau , as Johann Heinrich Keulisch ; † March 30, 1698 in Gaildorf ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and hymn poet .

Life

Calisius was the son of the doctor Adam Keulisch. He received his school education in Wohlau and then decided to study theology . From the summer semester of 1650 he was enrolled at the University of Leipzig , from June 7, 1653 at the University of Strasbourg . He completed his studies in 1655 as Lic. Theol. from. He presented his first seals at the age of 14. He also came into contact with leading members of the Pegnese Order of Shepherds and Flowers in Nuremberg .

Calisius left, since his father was now personal physician to Duke Eberhard III. von Württemberg , after his studies in Stuttgart . There he was initially an informer for the sons of the Landhofmeister Wolfgang Georg I. zu Castell-Remlingen . In 1656 he was employed as the second deacon in Göppingen, but rose to the first deacon in the same year before he was able to accept a pastor's position in Kemnat in 1661 . In 1663 he received the parish in Münster near Cannstatt .

Calisius took on 5 May 1669 a reputation as pastor of Sulzbach am Kocher and at the same court chaplain of the Lords of Limpurg on Castle Schmiedelfeld on. After this Limpurger line died out in 1682, he was appointed to Gaildorf as consistorial councilor and senior as well as superintendent in 1684 . There he also held the office of court preacher to the Limpurgers at Gaildorf Castle until his death .
