Johann Ludwig Wilhelm Beck

Johann Ludwig Wilhelm Beck (born October 27, 1786 in Leipzig ; † February 14, 1869 there ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Johann Ludwig Wilhelm Beck was born in Leipzig on October 27, 1786 as the first son of the philologist Christian Daniel Beck . He studied law at the University of Leipzig , where in 1805 he received both a doctorate in philosophy and a master's degree. In 1809 he became a private lecturer , in the same year he also received his doctorate in law.

Beck was appointed full professor of law at the University of Königsberg in February 1812 . In December of the same year he was forced to return to his home city of Leipzig because of war unrest. In February 1813 he was Councilor . In September 1814 he also gave up this position to become a fully qualified lawyer and lay judge in Leipzig .

In 1835, when the jury was dissolved, he became the first councilor of the appellate court , two years later its president, which he remained until September 1863. In addition to all of this, he was a lecturer in law at Leipzig University , and from 1819 he was also an associate professor. He held this professorship until his death on February 14, 1869.
